Natural Beauty Abounds

A large variety of nesting warblers can be found in Shawnee State Park. Kentucky Warbler, Blue-winged Warbler, Pine Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush and Ovenbirds are just a few of the many warblers in the area.  Other nesting birds include Wood Thrush, Scarlet and Summer Tanager, Great-crested Flycatcher, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Red-eyed Vireo.  You may also spot Wild Turkey and the nesting Eastern Phoebes.

In addition to the birding opportunities, you will find some of the rarest plants in Ohio within the park. There are at least 35 endangered and threatened plants within Shawnee State Park including Blackjack Oak, Umbrella Magnolia, and Fringe-tree.
